North Side Library Access on Saturday

The North Side Library will only be able to be accessed from the south on Saturday, June 21, due to Euclid Ave. being closed. Patrons may access the North Side Library parking lot from the south by using Ovid Avenue to reach 5th Avenue. See the North Side Library page for a map.

Concrete Work at Central Library

There is concrete work happening along the Grand Avenue sidewalk on the north side of Central Library. Access to the driveway, pickup window, and parking garage remain open and accessible.

DMPL Cooling Centers

All locations of the Des Moines Public Library are serving as cooling centers on June 20-22. DART will provide free rides for the public to access cooling centers in Polk County. Riders should tell bus drivers when they board that they want to go to the cooling center. The driver will then transport riders to the nearest one. Please note - on Sunday, June 22, only the Central Library and Franklin Avenue Library are open. Check our hours and locations page for open hours.
