Book Club Sets FAQ

All available Book Club Sets are on display at the Franklin Avenue Library. But you can also view and reserve a set online, and we will deliver the set to the library building of your preference.

Absolutely. Place a hold for any set online here.

Each set contains 10 books, and we unfortunately cannot split the set into smaller quantities. These 10 books must be returned together as well.

60 days, max.

No. The sets are checked out for 60 days, and must be returned then.

You can return the complete set to any of our six Des Moines Public Library locations. Please do not return individual copies, as this will delay check-in for your item and may result in unnecessary fines.

The person who checks out the set is responsible for every book in the set. Late fines apply, and the replacement fee for each lost book is $15 for hardcover, $10 for paperback. If the whole set is lost, the fee is $50.

Yes! Each Des Moines Public Library building hosts its own regular book discussion group that is open to the public. See a listing of upcoming meetings here

The replacement cost for a damaged or lost bag is $5.
