The Des Moines Public Library offers free notary public services at most locations. If you would like to schedule a free notary appointment, please contact one of the following people at each of these locations:

*Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Please remember - our notaries are not attorneys licensed to practice law in this state. They are not allowed to draft legal records, give advice on legal matters, including immigration, or charge a fee for those activities.

Notary Services - What You Need

If you come in to use our notary service, please ensure you have:

  • A valid ID
  • A proper notarial certificate (examples)
  • If required, a witness or witnesses, who will require their own valid ID.
