You Can Be a Rosie Reader Too!
A lifetime of success begins with early literacy. Everyone has a role to play in creating better readers and better leaders in Des Moines. That includes you! By donating time and/or money, you can help make a difference in the lives of the early readers across this city.

Everybody Wins! Iowa
Everybody Wins' signature program is Power Read, where volunteer reading mentors are matched one-to-one with a student for about an hour each week and together they read and engage in conversation.
Programs may take place during breakfast, lunch, after-school, or evening dinner sessions primarily at elementary schools or through community organizations.

Reach Out & Read Iowa
As part of Reach Out & Read Iowa's program, pediatric primary care providers (Doctors, NPs, and PAs) deliver literacy guidance to parents and caregivers of children from infancy through age 5.
Starting at 6 months, participating providers start each regular doctor appointment by giving the child a new, developmentally appropriate book to take home. In this manner, each child will have a collection of 8-10 new books before they start kindergarten.
READ to SUCCEED
READ to SUCCEED, a United Way of Central Iowa program, is an integrated initiative to improve early childhood literacy in central Iowa. This important work has long-reaching implications in our community's ability to thrive.
The United Way of Iowa has several programs and initiatives that are designed to provide the tools, resources, and opportunities for students to enhance their reading, and for volunteers to help.
