It follows an Iowa woman named Meg, who, in the midst of grief, depression, and loss, makes a decision to take a mysterious substance that a doctor says will cause her to pass peacefully in her sleep in 20 days' time. The book follows those 20 days as Meg prepares for her death by reconnecting with her friends, her family, and herself.
