Program Description

Event Details

Join us during Disability Pride Month for a panel featuring local members in the disabled community. Learn about destigmatizing and celebrating disabilities and other forms of marginalization. Here is why you should consider wearing at mask at this event (from NIHCM Foundation): People with disabilities have been uniquely impacted by the pandemic as they face a greater risk of poor health outcomes, reduced access to routine services and care, and adverse social outcomes. Individuals with disabilities were more likely to face unemployment during the pandemic and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities were six times as likely to die from COVID-19 than other people. Additionally, people with disabilities experienced disparities in the public health response to COVID-19 due to lack of appropriate data collection and accessibility barriers in information, testing and vaccination.
