All Locations Closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

All DMPL locations will be closed on Monday, January 20, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Forest Avenue Library's annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration will take place at 4 PM at the Forest Avenue Library. Doors open at 3:30 PM for the program.

Warming Center Information: The Central Library meeting room wing will be open on Monday, January 20, from 9 AM-5 PM for use as a warming center. The library itself will remain closed.

Program Description

Event Details

Join us as we learn the basics of sewing in this beginner class. The first week will review sewing machine basics and have a focused project. The second week will focus on clothing repairs and the remaining sessions will be open for you to bring your own projects and questions you have. 

Please bring the following items:

A sewing kit that includes needles, thread, scissors (kids scissors or embroidery scissors), seam ripper, (optional) needle threader, and any projects you are working on. 

Sewing Machine: While the instructor will bring a couple machines to share, do please bring your own if you have one.
