Welcome to Central Library’s new series, featuring Iowa authors talking about their books and their experiences as writers!

Victor D.O. Santos is a Brazilian linguist and an Urbandale-based award-winning children's author. He is also the father to two multicultural and multilingual children, who have inspired several of his books. His books include those in the Little Polyglot Adventures series (available in twenty languages) and My Dad, My Rock (2022), which has received the much coveted Kirkus starred review. In this talk, Victor will do a live reading of one of this latest picture books and share what led him to start writing children's books, where he draws inspiration for his stories, his process for producing a children's book from draft to official release, and the difference between self-publishing and traditionally publishing a children's book (tips will be offered for aspiring authors). At the end, the audience will be able to ask Victor questions and purchase customized signed copies of his books on the spot.

You can view Victor's current books on his publisher's website.
