Adventure Pass temporarily shut down in 2025

Due to software issues affecting all libraries using the service, the Iowa Adventure Pass program will temporarily shut down in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can still make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. The service will return at a later time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Weather update for 12/14/2024

All locations of the Des Moines Public Library will be open normal hours Saturday, December 14, and all locations will serve as emergency warming shelters during open hours.

Escape to the savannahs of Colombia and the rainforests of Costa Rica with Karin Stein who will share stories of trips she’s led through Latin America. 

Stein is a Colombian musician with residency in the U.S.A.   She manages and performs with several nationally-touring Latin American ensembles, including the Iowa-based duo Calle Sur (www.callesur.com).   She also is very involved in environmental work both in Costa Rica and in Iowa. She combines her interest in music, cultures, and nature in the personalized trips she leads to Latin America.  Learn all about the countries she explores with her guests and enjoy the virtual scenery!

Escapate a las sabanas de Colombia y las selvas tropicales de Costa Rica con Karin Stein, quien compartirá historias de viajes que ha realizado por Latinoamérica.

Stein es una artista musical colombiana que reside en los Estados Unidos.
