Adventure Pass temporarily shut down in 2025

Due to software issues affecting all libraries using the service, the Iowa Adventure Pass program will temporarily shut down in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can still make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. The service will return at a later time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Des Moines Public Library is partnering with The Varsity Cinema for The Varsity Cinema Book Club.

Read the book. Watch the movie. Discuss them both!

This month, we will be reading the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, and watching the film Romeo + Juliet (1996) by Baz Luhrmann. Limited copies of the book will be available for checkout at the Central Library Pick-up Window starting the first of the month.

The book and movie discussion will be held at The Varsity Cinema (1207 25th St, Des Moines, IA 50311) on April 24th at 8:30.
