All DMPL locations are currently serving as Polk County Warming Centers during open hours. DART will be providing free rides to warming centers while the extreme temperature plan is in effect. More information about warming centers can be found on the Polk County website.

Discover how the blues traveled from Southern juke joints to the electric sound of Chicago in this lively program of music and storytelling.

Tom Buckmiller and Steve Vasquez guide audiences through the people, places, and powerful stories behind one of America’s most influential musical traditions. Hear classic styles performed live while learning about the legends who shaped the blues.

Blues CDs will be given away as door prizes.

Tom Buckmiller, a solo blues and roots musician, is a passionate
advocate for the history and artistry of the blues, and he'll lead us on
this immersive musical journey.

Steve Vasquez has done extensive work in various roles with several
Blues organizations and festivals such as the Central Iowa Blues
Society, Blues Foundation, Pinetop Perkins Foundation, Blues Challenge
Finals, Playing with Fire, and the Lamoni LIVE Blues Festival.

Central Parking

Free library parking is available in Central's underground parking garage for two hours per visit. Parking around the library is metered at various costs from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
