It's time to create a masterpiece for the Des Moines Public Library's second annual Tiny Art Show ... and this year we've spread to the branches! 

 

Pick up your kit from any DMPL branch, return it to the same branch, then come to Central for the Artists' Reception! Kits will include an easel, canvas, some paints and a brush.  This art show is all-ages, and anyone old enough to hold a crayon or paintbrush can enter! 

 

Here's the timeline:

 

  • Pick up your free art kit at any DMPL branch from 12/27-1/3. We'll ask for your name, age category (Child, Teen, Adult, Senior), and email address at this time.

     

  • Return your entry to any DMPL branch by Wednesday, January 7. When we receive your masterpiece, we will ask for the title of your artwork.

     

  • The art will be displayed in the art gallery on the second floor at Central (1000 Grand Ave.) beginning on January 12. Come in to see your art on display and vote for your favorite pieces in each age category!

     

  • Come to Central for the Artists' Reception on January 31 from 2:00-4:00. Enjoy light snacks with the other artists and find out who won in each age category. You can take your art home at the end of the reception.

     

  • Any art not claimed at the reception will be sent back to the branch where it was submitted. You may collect it from that branch between 2/2-2/16. If you can't come in during that window of time, please give us a call to let us know.
