Learn about the purpose and function of the Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT). Gain a better understanding of sustainable agriculture and local food systems, as well as strategies for strengthening local food systems using conservation easements in Des Moines.

SILT has a vison to rebuild Iowa’s diversified landscape to include farms of all sizes, production methods and crops, including fresh, naturally-grown food for human consumption.

About the Speaker

Katie Das is the Des Moines Regional Coordinator with Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT). Das is a graduate from Drake University with a degree in Environmental Sustainability and Resilience, and Law, Politics, and Society. She works on a variety of projects, including land acquisition/protection, outreach, and land access for historically underserved farmers.
