All Locations Closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

All DMPL locations will be closed on Monday, January 20, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Forest Avenue Library's annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration will take place at 4 PM at the Forest Avenue Library. Doors open at 3:30 PM for the program.

Warming Center Information: The Central Library meeting room wing will be open on Monday, January 20, from 9 AM-5 PM for use as a warming center. The library itself will remain closed.

Program Description

Event Details

Banned books week is coming up October 1-7, and we're celebrating your freedom to read! School is out, so come in any time during the day. Write a postcard to an author, make some blackout poetry, try a banned books mad lib, and more! We'll also have frequently challenged books available if you'd like to sit and read for a while.

This is a drop-in program. Feel free to come whenever it works for you!

Central Parking

Free library parking is available in Central's underground parking garage for two hours per visit. Parking around the library is metered at various costs from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Children’s Program

Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by a caregiver over 12 years old.
