All Locations Closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

All DMPL locations will be closed on Monday, January 20, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Forest Avenue Library's annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration will take place at 4 PM at the Forest Avenue Library. Doors open at 3:30 PM for the program.

Warming Center Information: The Central Library meeting room wing will be open on Monday, January 20, from 9 AM-5 PM for use as a warming center. The library itself will remain closed.

Event Details

Learn about butterflies and plants with the South Side Library and the Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department! Kids can listen to a story about butterflies from Miss Janee and learn more information about plants and butterflies from Environmental Educator Joel Van Roekel. Each child will also get to decorate a flower pot and receive a plant to take home.   

For youth ages 6-11. Preregistration required. Space is limited to 20 kids.
