Program Description

Event Details

Join us for our Spring Lawyers in Libraries Program sponsored by the ISBA Legal Access Committee. This program will focus on Medicaid eligibility for nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, Medicaid programs available in Iowa and medical assistance income trusts.

Lawyers in Libraries is a joint effort by The Iowa State Bar Association, the State Library of Iowa, Iowa Legal Aid and the Polk County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project to help provide free legal information to Iowans across the state. This Spring, lawyers will make one-hour presentations followed by question-and-answer sessions at local public libraries throughout the state.

From 1997 to 2018, Scott Hartsook was the Managing Attorney of the Legal Hotline for Older Iowans, a special project of Iowa Legal Aid that provides free legal advice to Iowans who are 60 or older. Scott is a frequent speaker about Medicaid. He currently maintains a part-time law practice in Des Moines that helps people with Medicaid and other elder law issues.
