Join Bridgett Robinson, Neighborhood Finance Corporation’s Diversity and Inclusion Mortgage Loan Originator and Outreach Coordinator, along with community panelists, as they help navigate what Black/African American homeownership may look like today, and what is being learned from the past.

The Journey to Homeownership (J2H) Program is an affirmative asset initiative for eligible homebuyers in the NFC lending areas. The program focuses on overcoming the systemic barriers for African American in homeownership by providing down payment and closing cost assistance, combined with the intention of addressing other barriers through community partnerships.

J2H provides educational tools and resources to support African Americans who are looking to become homeowners. The core part of the J2H initiative is a down payment assistance program. Our actions and work are in support of the One Economy Blue Print for Action and the goal to increase African American homeownership in Polk County by 2% from 2020 to 2023.

The J2H classes serve as a one of the required elements to qualify for the down payment assistance program. NFC has committed partnered funding for down payment and closing cost assistance in the NFC Lending Areas, in Polk and Linn Counties, to assist Black/American homebuyers earning below 100% of the Area Median Income.  Classes are being held, both virtually and in-person on a monthly basis to provide the flexibility the community needs. To count this event toward your J2H homebuyer education, register in advance through the NFC. Registration will open on July 31st.
