All locations of the Des Moines Public Library will be closed Wednesday, June 19 in commemoration of Juneteenth. We will reopen at the regular time on Thursday, June 20.

Join the Forest Avenue Library for a film presentation from the State Historical Society of Iowa. We'll be watching one Iowa History 101 film each third Tuesday from February until November. This month, Edward E. Curtis IV, professor and Arab American author, discusses the history of Syrian Muslim settlement in Iowa before World War I and how these immigrants made a life that was simultaneously Arab, Muslim, and American.
