Adventure Pass temporarily shut down in 2025

Due to software issues affecting all libraries using the service, the Iowa Adventure Pass program will temporarily shut down in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can still make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. The service will return at a later time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Program Description

Event Details

Join the Forest Avenue Library for a film presentation from the State Historical Society of Iowa. We'll be watching one Iowa History 101 film each third Tuesday from February until November. This month, Leo Landis, State Curator for the State Historical Society of Iowa, discussed the history of Juneteenth, which has been a state holiday in Iowa since 2002 and became a federal holiday in 2021. Emancipation events in Iowa took place prior to the Civil War in Muscatine and over time communities of various sizes including Clarinda, Corning, and Sioux City have hosted events. The gatherings show that Iowans of many backgrounds have come together to celebrate freedom and equality.
