All DMPL locations are currently serving as Polk County Warming Centers during open hours. DART will be providing free rides to warming centers while the extreme temperature plan is in effect. More information about warming centers can be found on the Polk County website.

Join us at Central Library for a fun, hands-on introduction to the blues with local musician Bob Pace. Best known for his guitar work with many famous artists, Bob’s first love is the harmonica — and he’s excited to share it with you!

Bring your own or pick up a student harmonica when you arrive (limited supply). Bob Pace will guide you through the basics of the "Mississippi Saxophone". He is a 2012 Iowa Blues Hall of Fame and 2009 Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. As the winner of the 2009 Iowa Blues Challenge, he and Steve E. George competed in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN.

Central Parking

Free library parking is available in Central's underground parking garage for two hours per visit. Parking around the library is metered at various costs from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
