Dr. Kevin Gannon, Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and Professor of History at Grand View University, will speak on how the inequities and injustices with which we struggle today are deeply rooted in our history.

The presentation seeks to explore the ways in which contemporary policies and their impact upon communities are shaped by their historical contexts. In particular, by examining the idea of Race in America, especially as seen in the twin legacies of indigenous removal and African American enslavement, we can acquire the tools to address present-day structures of inequality in more purposeful and effective ways.
