Adventure Pass temporarily shut down in 2025

Due to software issues affecting all libraries using the service, the Iowa Adventure Pass program will temporarily shut down in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can still make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. The service will return at a later time. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Weather update for 12/14/2024

All locations of the Des Moines Public Library will be open normal hours Saturday, December 14, and all locations will serve as emergency warming shelters during open hours.

Former U.S. Navy SEAL Jack Carr is the #1 New York Times best-selling author of tense military and political thrillers. His debut novel, 2018’s The Terminal List, was adapted into the 2022 #1 Amazon Prime Video series starring Hollywood star Chris Pratt as Navy SEAL James Reece.

Carr’s new novel, Only the Dead, will be released in April and continues the James Reece saga, as he is on a mission to take down a global conspiracy that seems ripped from modern headlines. Carr retired from active military duty in 2016, and is also the host of the popular Danger Close Podcast.

The program will be moderated by Jeff Angelo, former Iowa State Senator and current host of the popular Newsradio 1040 WHO show, Need to Know with Jeff Angelo.
