All Locations Closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

All DMPL locations will be closed on Monday, January 20, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Forest Avenue Library's annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration will take place at 4 PM at the Forest Avenue Library. Doors open at 3:30 PM for the program.

Warming Center Information: The Central Library meeting room wing will be open on Monday, January 20, from 9 AM-5 PM for use as a warming center. The library itself will remain closed.

Program Description

Event Details

Make a Colorful Shape Collage. Bring your imagination and join Miss Donna at Riley Park from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM for this free, creative program where kids will explore various materials to bring their artwork to life. You may want to wear clothing suitable for art activities and bring a blanket or towel to sit on.  Activity will be available while supplies last. Ages 3+

In case of rain, event will be cancelled and the art bags will be available for pick-up at Franklin Avenue Library to complete at home. 

Central Iowa Shelter & Services will serve a free meal at this location after the program.  The meal is free and available to anyone.
