Adventure Pass Changes in 2025

Due to software issues affecting all libraries using the service, the Des Moines Public Library’s Iowa Adventure Pass program will no longer be available in 2025. Any reservation already made for 2025 will be honored, but we encourage anyone with a current reservation to print those passes immediately. Customers can make new reservations for passes that must be used by December 31, 2024. We hope to reintroduce the service at a later time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Under current Iowa law, just the filing of an eviction notice becomes public record and stays on a person’s record permanently—even if an eviction filing is thrown out, the tenant wins the case, or the eviction is illegal. The consequences of an eviction record disproportionately burden Black women and perpetuate social and economic inequities for people of color. This training will prepare you to advocate for housing access for all in the Iowa legislature.

Becca Eastwood (she/hers) is the Advocacy Campaign Manager with the ACLU of Iowa. She works with Iowans across the state to protect and expand civil rights and civil liberties. Through education and outreach, Becca works to make sure Iowans know their rights and are empowered to advocate for civil liberties.
