Dubbed “the undisputed queen of the modern-day romance” (Vogue), Jasmine Guillory is the beloved New York Times-bestselling author of popular romance novels, including The Wedding Date, The Proposal, While We Were Dating, and more. A former writer for The Toast and a regular contributor to The Today Show, Guillory’s romantic comedies have resonated with readers everywhere. With her signature upbeat charm, Guillory speaks to audiences about the importance of writing Black heroines, her career pivot from lawyer to full time writer, and writing during hard times.
In addition to writing, Guillory is a passionate cook and baker. Her newsletters regularly feature her favorite recipes, and her books include many glorious descriptions of food. She lives in Oakland, California.
The program will be moderated by Denise Williams. Denise is a popular Iowa-based author of romance novels such as Technically Yours (2023), Do You Take This Man (2022), and others.

- In the Des Moines Public Library parking garage, located on Grand Ave.
- On the surface lot on the corner of 10th St. and Grand Ave., across from the library.
- At the end of the program, there will be a question and answer period. A book signing will follow.
- Books will be available to purchase before and after the program courtesy of Beaverdale Books.
