Your support today makes a direct impact: The DMPL Foundation makes it possible for all six branches of the Des Moines Public Library to serve as bridges to a world of information and ideas.
With the support of contributors like you, the DMPL Foundation adds value to everyone's library experience by enhancing library services, collections, technology and programs.
Eighty seven percent of the DMPL programming is supported by the DMPL Foundation and our generous, caring donors! Every gift counts and makes a difference. Hear from these patrons:
"I need the library. It wouldn't be possible for me to get my degree without it."
"Getting our feet planted and being safe and being where we needed to be - I found a lot of that at the library."
“The library has been and always will be one of my favorite places to visit. What better way to grow than through the written word. Thanks for making the library such a great place.”
“I love the library because I would be broke if I had to buy all the books I read!”
“The Summer Reading Program has really ignited a passion for reading in my sons. I greatly appreciate everyone involved. A seed has been planted and their love of reading can only grow. Thanks again.”
“What’s more important than a child learning to read!”
“My three boys love the teen book selections. We often use books on tape for long car rides. We also love the AViD series and try to attend as many of your programs as possible.”
Our challenges this year are great:
- The Library is busier than ever. In the 2017/18 fiscal year, 813,042 people visited the Library in person, and 1,327,106 materials were circulated.
- During that year, 41,182 attended children's programs, and 23,376 attended adult programs.
- The fast pace of digital technology evolution is constantly redefining information resources.
- The rich and expanding diversity of our community requires specialization of information and new forms of access.
You can help us transform lives. When you give today you place books, information, programs, and computers in the hands of children and learners of all ages. Please help us continue to cultivate the dynamic, changing role that your library plays in our community.
With appreciation and gratitude,
Ellen Yee and Steve Jayne
