Hubbell Avenue Re-Paving
Customers visiting the East Side Library will notice a re-paving project underway beginning on Saturday, September 10. Access to the library via Hubbell Avenue may be affected beginning at
6:00 AM. During pavement removal, the street will be closed to through traffic, but library customers
will be able to access the library’s driveway. There will be flaggers to help direct people in the construction zone.

The week following the pavement removal there will be lane restrictions for patching but traffic
will be maintained.

On Saturday, September 17th the road will be resurfaced. No one is allowed to drive on the surface while it is being re-paved. Patrons and staff will need to use the back entrance off of East 27th St. between Easton and Guthrie.&In case of inclement weather the work will be done on the following day or when weather permits.

East Des Moines Souvenirs
and Collectables!

East Side Library is currently accepting donations of East Side memorabilia for our permanent display case. We would love to have a variety of items from our local churches, schools, and businesses. All items will become part of the library's permanent collection and will not be returned. We hope to gather enough items so that the display case will have a rotating collection.

Sit beside the fireplace with a good book at the East Side Library!

Renovated in the fall of 2006, this Des Moines Public Library location features a separate and expansive meeting room area, a conference room, and two study rooms.

While you're here, check out our separate children's and teen areas. In the children's area, kids can look through books, play with toys, use the Internet, and play computer games. Move over to the nearby teen area to check out our teen graphic novel section, watch movies on our flat screen TV, surf the web, or unwind with a book.

Parents can also find a place to relax in the adult reading room, complete with comfortable seating, a magazine and newspaper rack, and cozy gas fireplace.

Wireless Internet access is also available for patrons with laptops.
